Crypan
Product Name -Crypan
Technical Name -Ethiphone -39%SL
Packing -100ml | 1Lts
Ethephon 39% SL is a plant growth regulator (PGR) used to accelerate fruit ripening and coloration, promote leaf and fruit drop (abscission), regulate plant height, and induce flowering in specific crops. The “SL” in its name stands for Soluble Liquid, a common formulation type that dissolves readily in water.
Key Uses and Benefits
- Formulation: The Soluble Liquid (SL) formulation is easy to mix and apply as a foliar spray.
- Compatibility: Ethephon is acidic and incompatible with alkaline materials and solutions containing certain metal ions (e.g., iron, zinc, copper), which can cause premature decomposition and release of ethylene.
- Safety: The use of ethephon should follow label instructions, including recommended application rates and pre-harvest intervals (PHI), to ensure residue levels remain within legal limits and to avoid phytotoxic effects (plant damage).
- Storage: It should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area in its original container, as it is stable in acidic conditions but decomposes in neutral or alkaline environments.
Ethephon works by penetrating plant tissues and decomposing to release ethylene, a natural plant hormone that influences various growth processes. Its applications vary depending on the crop and timing:
- Promoting Ripening: It is widely used to improve the uniform coloration and accelerate the ripening of fruits like pineapples, mangoes, and tomatoes, ensuring consistency for market.
- Harvest Management: It facilitates mechanical harvesting by promoting the loosening or shedding of fruits and leaves in crops such as cotton (boll opening), cherries, and walnuts.
- Growth Regulation: It can limit stem elongation in cereals like wheat and maize to prevent lodging (bending over) and promote sturdier plants.
- Flowering and Branching: Ethephon can induce flowering in crops like bromeliads and pineapples, or stimulate lateral branching in ornamentals such as azaleas and geraniums.
- Latex Flow: It is used to stimulate and increase the flow of latex in rubber trees.
